Hendurabi Island likely to have gas reserves Hendurabi Island, an Iranian island in the Persian Gulf, is likely to have potential oil reserves, said the managing director of Iranian Offshore Oilfields Company (IOOC), the offshore subsidiary company of NIOC. “Hendurabi Island is located between the two large gas fields Lavan and Kish,” said Mahmoud Zirakchian-zadeh in an interview with PANA News. “National Iranian Oil Company is doing studies for discovering new hydrocarbon reserves.”

“The result of seismic studies for exploration of new hydrocarbon reserves in Hendurabi Island has been positive until now.”

Previously, Mohmoud Mohades, the deputy head for exploration at NIOC, had said that the risk of exploration operations is low in Hendurabi Island.

“Considering the positive results in exploration operations, NIOC has decided to find new exploration targets in Hendurabi.”
