E&P BLOCKS OF IRAN
The Fars area is located in southern part of the Zagros fold and thrust belt which is associated with super giant gas fields in the Permo -Triassic Dehram Group. NIOC is offering 1 block in this area.
The area is characterized by large, elongate anticlines. The most distinct features of the block are large anticlines which their surface are formed by upper bedding plane of some of feature-forming units. The Hormuz salt series plays the role of a low friction, basal detachment level, and influenced the folding style by development of fore-thrusts and back-thrusts. The Triassic evaporaites (Dashtak Formation) can be regarded as the main intermediate detachment level.
In addition to Large – medium size anticlines which exposed in the surface and can be defined by surface geology, buried structures which could be defined only by seismic manner (e.g. Fasa and North Sarvestan structures) also exist in Fars area.
|The main plays in Fars area comprise of Permo-Triassic carbonates (Dehram Group). The seal for Permo-Triassic Dehram reservoirs is Triassic Dashtak evaporites. In Tudej Block however, a Jurassic-Cretaceous Petroleum system has been proven.
Totally 6 structural traps have been identified in Tudej block. Moreover, salt-related structures and also pre-orogeny Paleohighs and their combination with Zagros folds should also be taken into account as potential traps.
One commercial oil filed have been discovered within Tudej block producing from Bangestan reservoir.
